Catching Her Mates Page 23

John’s cock bobbed in front of her. She licked her lips. A bead of precum glistened on the tip. She leaned forward and took a long, slow lap over the tip. Salt and musk burst over her tongue. John groaned. His hand slipped beneath her hair, cupping the back of her neck. He pushed her back and the tip fell free from her mouth.

“Not yet, sweet cat. I want to see Judge fucking you before you drive me insane.” John’s grip tightened, holding her away.

“I want to play with you.” She gripped his thighs. Her nails bit into his thighs.

“Not yet.” John narrowed his eyes on her.

She didn’t push him. Judge ran his hand up and down over her back. A shiver ran over her. His cock nudged against her pussy lips. She tensed. Inside. He had to slide into her now. He reached between them and guided his cock into her.

“One of us will always be here for you, angel.” Judge gripped her hips and guided her hips back.

If she was lucky, she could have two or more of them at once. And she was a very lucky girl. A smile pulled at the corner of her lips. Her mouth watered. Soon, she’d suck on John’s cock as Judge made love to her.

John nudged her forward. His wild, woodsy scent surrounded her. She opened her mouth and took the head of his shaft inside once again. A low, rough groan rolled through the room. He tightened his fingers at the back of her neck. Damn, that response sent thrills arcing through her.

She flattened her tongue against the shaft and began a slow, steady suction. He had to give her more than that one low rumble. She drew him deep before pulling back. Maybe she could make him yell. Her mouth firmed as she bobbed up and down.

“Seems like he’s enjoying that. I think it’s time I made sure we all three find our pleasure.” Judge’s grip tightened on her as his cock withdrew.

She tensed, her muscles tightening. Her heart raced. Fuck, she’d been too concentrated on John. Judge surged forward.

His thick shaft stretched her inner muscles. One hand glided under her and cupped her mound. A finger pressed against her clit. Her breath caught and locked in her throat. The little control she had slipped away.

She rocked back into him. Her tongue flicked over the head of John’s shaft before she took him back into her mouth. Got to send John over. Can’t leave him aching. She couldn’t stay still. Fire pulsed through her body.

She clutched at one of John’s legs as she moved her mouth over him. He gripped her hair. The sting shot through her scalp as he urged her head forward, taking over the rhythm. She firmed her lips and sucked, scraping with the edge of her teeth.

He moaned, and his hips rocked forward. A light touch flicked over her clit. Sharp prickles danced through her. Her breath caught in her throat. She clutched at his leg. No, not yet. He’d find his pleasure before Judge sent her flying to hers.

She dug her fingernails into his leg and doubled her efforts. The finger over her clit began to rub in slow circles. A moan ripped from her tight throat. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears. Heat and electricity rushed through her. Every inch of her skin tingled, hypersensitive. Even the cool air moving over her skin added to the building pleasure.

John cupped the back of her head. He rocked in and out of her mouth at a faster pace. A rumbling growl sounded in the room. Which man made that noise?

“I’m going to come, kitten.” John tightened his fingers at the back of her neck, but he didn’t apply any pressure.

Bring it on. She sucked, drawing him deep before pulling back. Her teeth grazed over the head. He tensed. His seed spurted into her mouth. The salty taste flowed over her tongue, and she swallowed. He stroked her hair before pulling his cock from her mouth.

“Now, make her come, Judge.” John dropped to his knees in front of her. “You’re going to mark me, Leslie. When you come, bite me. I have to have your mark. I want every woman to know that I belong to you.”

Leslie gripped his waist. Her eyes locked on his shoulder. Her gums stung. Hers. Her man.

Judge’s hips thrust against her and he increased his pace. His finger flicked over her clit. She strained back into his strokes. Her breath rasped in her throat, and a fine sheen of sweat covered her body.

Judge pulled her back against him with every thrust. One thrust sank deep. The head of his shaft nudged against a too-sensitive area. Heat seethed and flared. She gasped and quivered.

“Do it again, Judge. She’s almost there.” John’s voice rumbled.

Judge surged into her again and again. She clung to John. He pulled her forward and pressed her head against his shoulder. Tension racked her body. A searing current ricocheted through her. Her hips jerked. Too much.

“Let go.” Judge twirled his fingers over her clit.

She shook her head. Not yet, too high. He flicked at the bud again. Her hips pressed down against his touch. Scalding fire exploded and raced over her nerve endings. Mine.

Growling, she sank her teeth into John’s shoulder as the pleasure washed over her. Judge surged against her. His hips drove into her buttocks again and again. The intensity stole her strength, but his strong arm held her in place.

Judge tensed and came. A low moan ripped from him. He rocked into her, minute thrusts as if he wanted to draw every last ounce of bliss he could. He glided his palm over her thigh. Heat skittered over her skin. She trembled. If he kept that up, she’d be ready for another round.

He leaned down and placed a kiss on her back before slowly pulling free. A pang rolled through her as muscles clenched. She grimaced. If only he could stay inside her as they cuddled. He lifted her, placing her on the bed.

“I’ll be right back.” Judge left the room.

He returned a few moments later and slipped into bed beside her. John sprawled on her other side. She glanced to the door. When would Archer get through with his work?

“He’ll be here soon. Don’t worry. He’s not going to make this a habit.” John patted her thigh. “Now, you need sleep. I know you’re tired.”

“I am.” She nodded and sighed. Damn, he hadn’t made it in time to join in. Tomorrow, she was talking to that man again.

  Chapter Twenty-Seven

John stepped into the Jake’s Steakhouse. A square, polished, light brown wooden table lay on its side. Shards of white plates, broken wineglasses, utensils, and napkins littered the white tile floor. John stopped and stepped out of the way as officers and a medical technician escorted a couple of the noncritical people from the restaurant.

He walked around a piece of clear tube and a torn white wrapper. Half a damn restaurant poisoned, and not a damn clue yet who did it or even what they poisoned in this one. He clenched his fist.

Fuck, why couldn’t they at least get a handle on how they did this? Leslie could have easily been involved if they’d gone out. He rolled his shoulders. Can’t think that way. She’s safe at home with Judge and Archer and they wouldn’t be leaving.

He strolled over to where Jason watched some techs photograph evidence. Mostly wreckage, but they couldn’t afford to miss anything. One of these days, the foxes would go too far and kill someone.

“Any commonalities found yet?” John’s stomach clenched. A high chair sat beside a nearby table. Children involved again.

“Nothing. We have a list of what every table ordered and have talked with people who weren’t poisoned, but haven’t found one thing in common. I’m wondering if they might have tried two or more different things this time just to make sure.” Jason shook his head. “Samples have been taken to the lab, and doctors are analyzing both blood and stomach contents of the victims.”

Light reflected off a mirrored diamond on the wall. John turned his head toward the front. A van with a prominent news logo parked just outside the police barrier. Well, the news of this latest attack would break soon. Maybe it would bring them some type information. The sheer number of people hurt here elevated the incident to a higher level. What would be next?

“We’re getting the first news back from the hospital.” Logan paced over to hi
m. “So far we have three very critical and ten on the borderline that they’re watching. This in spite of having their stomachs pumped. The doctors said that this batch went into the bloodstream fast.”

“Fuck. Have the officers managed to talk to any of those not critical and not so sick they can’t concentrate?” John tensed. His stomach sank. They had to stop this soon.

“Only a few of them. They confirmed what we’d already been told of what they ate and drank.” Logan glanced around.

John nodded. To be expected when people were ill or hurt. Logan moved off. John strode outside to help interview those people who hadn’t been poisoned and waited to be able to leave and go to their loved ones. John headed for a man standing alone. He passed a couple.

The man patted his wife’s hand. “Cass will be all right.”

John clenched his hand. An officer was with them, so he walked over to the lone man. Hopefully, the man was right and their loved one was all right.

Hours later, he pulled into the driveway and parked. As he unbuckled his seatbelt, his phone shrilled. He sighed, picked it up, and glanced at the caller ID. When he saw it was from the station, he swiped his finger over the face.

“Hi, Dark here.” John leaned back in the seat.

“Still plenty of light here.” Thelma’s light voice came from the receiver. “You need to come back to the station, sir. We just received a call from the county jail. They have a fox prisoner who says he has information about who is behind the poisonings and attacks.”

“Have them bring him over.” John buckled his safety belt and started his car. Nothing could happen to that man before he talked to him. If other foxes discovered he wanted to talk, they might try to silence him. “I’m on my way back to the station now.”

He backed out of the driveway and guided the car down the street. His phone rang again. His brows pulled together. It shouldn’t be the station again this soon.

“Archer calling,” the safety app on his phone announced.

“Answer.” John stopped at the intersection.

“Where are you going? Didn’t you just pull into the driveway?” Archer asked.

“Yes, I pulled in, but the station called. We might have something to help end this. I need to go see what this person knows.” John turned onto the main road. “Tell Leslie good night and give her a kiss for me. I’ll be home when I can.”

“All right, I hope you find something to help tonight,” Archer replied with a huge sigh. “Leslie said she loves you and she’ll see you later. Talk to you soon.”

“Bye, Archer. Take care of our sweet cat.” John reached out and ended the call. She’d be safe. Archer would put her life before his if it came to that.

Once he arrived at the station, he strode to his office. Logan came in with a tablet. He handed it over.

“What’s the situation?” John reached out and took it.

“Raymond Carver—the man who was helping plant the information in the mayor’s office—he wants to talk.”

John glanced up at Logan. Raymond Carver hadn’t received even a traffic ticket before they’d nabbed him.

“He wants to talk now when he wouldn’t talk earlier?” John raised his brow. Was this an attempt to play them, or did he actually have something to say? What changed?

“No one’s spoken to him yet, and he didn’t give any explanation. They’re bringing him over from the jail.” Logan dropped into the seat opposite his desk. “But with any luck, this will give us what we’ve been waiting for.”

  * * * *

It shouldn’t take a fucking hour for a prisoner to make it across town. John tapped his foot as he watched the screen showing two officers escort Raymond into the interrogation room. His muscles tightened. This could all be a big lie to get a little time out of the jail. He drew in a deep breath and closed his eyes. Focus. Stop anticipating.

John rose and strode to the door. Time to go talk to Raymond.

He stopped outside of the room, straightened and squared his shoulders. One of his men waited to the side of it.

“He was given some water and is waiting, but he’s antsy, anxious.” The officer glanced at the door.

“All right. Hopefully this isn’t some type game.” John nodded before he pulled open the door. He entered and then flicked the switch to show the room was in use.

“Hello.” John strolled to the chair opposite the cuffed man.

“Hello, thank you for talking to me, Chief Dark. I’m Raymond Carver.” Raymond leaned forward.

“They told me you wanted to talk about the poisonings and attacks. Why would you speak up now when you said nothing earlier?” John leaned back in the chair and drummed his fingers on the table.

“Earlier, I believed that he was trying to do what was best for the foxes as a whole. I didn’t think he’d let our own people get involved. Our families.” Raymond closed his eyes.

“Someone in your family was caught in one of the poisonings and you just learned about it.” John raised a brow. His muscles relaxed. Now, that made sense.

“My niece and my sister were both poisoned tonight. I learned about it after dinner.” Raymond clenched his fists, and his lips firmed. “If he isn’t going to watch out for my family, then I will.”

“I can’t promise you any kind of deal.” John leaned forward. Hopefully Raymond wasn’t looking for that.

“I’m not looking for a deal.” Raymond shook his head.

“Well, then, why don’t you start with what you know and how you think it could help us?” John put his hand on the table.

“Most of the information you’ll need is on a phone, in a recorded conversation. While I thought he was doing the right things for the fox people, he wasn’t someone that I really trusted. He’d turned on people before. This wasn’t the type of situation I thought I’d need the insurance for. I never thought he’d put the foxes at risk like this.” Raymond exhaled loudly. The cuffs jingled as they hit the table.

“A phone. The phone you were booked in with?” John raised an eyebrow.

“No, I didn’t want to chance it getting stolen or falling into the wrong hands. I put it in a resealable bag, locked it in a storage box, and buried it under my house.” Raymond clasped his hands together. “I can draw you a map to get it.”

“Who is the man on the tape?” John tilted his head. His heartbeat raced, and every muscle tightened.

“Chris Cunningham, the fox alpha.” Raymond’s eyes lifted.

“All right, how are we going to get in your home? Foxes in general haven’t been so cooperative with us.” John clenched his jaw. He’d hit that wall again and again.

“If you’ll let me call her, I’ll tell my wife to let you in. She will. After what just happened, I don’t know many who would keep you from doing whatever is needed to stop this before someone else is hurt.” Raymond frowned.

“We’ll bring you a phone, and you’ll be on speaker.” John took a deep breath before he nodded. There was a small risk. He could monitor the call and cut it if Raymond started to tell the woman to destroy something. “Pre-dial his wife’s phone number.”

An officer brought a phone into the room. He put it on the table in front of the man, but walked around to stand beside Raymond. If needed, he’d take the phone.

“Just hit send.” John’s muscles tightened.

Raymond reached out and pushed send. The rolling hum buzzed twice before it connected.

  “Hello?” a feminine voice asked.

“Hi, baby.” Raymond relaxed back in the chair.

  “Raymond?” the woman asked.

“Yes, I don’t have much time. The police are going to come to our house. I want you to let them in and let them search.” Raymond folded his hands together on the table.

“Are you sure?” the woman asked.

“Yes, I need to do this for us and our family. It’s not right that Jackie and Emma were hurt. I love you. I’ll talk to you again later.” Raymond pushed the phone across the table.

&n
bsp; John took the phone. He sent for a tablet. When it arrived, Raymond drew the layout of the house and where the box had been hidden. John tilted his head. Even if they’d suspected, they probably wouldn’t have found it under the house.

“Thank you for your cooperation. I’ll have you taken to a holding cell while we search for the box.” John nodded.

John strode out of the room. An hour later, he and six other officers left the police station to search the house. He pulled up in front of the house.

Would the woman would let them in? They knocked on the door to the tan-colored house. A woman with deep brown hair opened the door wide. John signaled to one of his men. They raised a video camera. He forced a smile to his face and took a deep breath. No one would be able to say that he didn’t have permission. He’d have proof of it.

“Can we come in your home and search for the box your husband told us about?” John waited on the porch.

“Yes, you can search.” The woman nodded.

One of the officers directed her to sit down as two others strode toward the hallway.

“I’m Chief John Dark. Your husband sent us here to pick something up.” John walked over to her. With any luck, they could make this easy for her. “We’ll make this as fast as we possibly can.”

“Mina. I know why he did it, and I’m happy that he did. I won’t interfere.” Mina’s lips lifted in a shaky smile.

“How are your relatives?” John turned. The two officers opened a small closet just in the hallway. They pulled shoes and a few other things from the bottom of the closet.

“They’re still being treated, and there is no change at this point. Apparently, they received a strong dose.” The woman swallowed loudly. “We have to wait to see what’s going to happen.”

“We found the pipe access door he told us about, Chief. We’re going to start digging,” Logan called.

“Good. Keep me updated.” John turned back to the woman. It shouldn’t take long to find if Raymond had told the truth.
